Bridgend Cottage

Bridgend Cottage is a traditional  semi-detached stone and cob built cottage perched directly on the banks of the river Leri. Most of our friends describe Bridged Cottage as being Tardis like as its much bigger on the inside than it appears from the outside. The compact, enclosed rear garden sits directly on the banks of the river and is a very special spot for relaxation. You could choose to have your breakfast on the small river terrace which overhangs the river and then have afternoon tea in the garden. You will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the babbling river running past. Our lovely old cottage retains many original features including beamed ceilings (mind your head) and lots of quirky and innovative ideas . We have endeavoured to renovate the cottages using traditional building methods and materials - obviously in cottages of this age some allowances have to be made to the structure of the building but we think a little bit of quirkiness adds to the pleasure of staying in Bridgend Cottage. We endeavour to run in as sustainable way as possible and heat our water and radiators with solar panels, backed up with multifuel log burners, we supply the fuel.

Bridgend cottage has 2 double bedrooms and one bathroom with a shower bath. We think the cottage is the ultimate couples retreat and perfect for a romantic getaway. The cottage is not suitable for young children due to the proximity to the river. Please be aware that there are steep stairs, umpy bumpy floor levels and some low beams in the cottage so it is not suitable for everyone. We do not allow pets or smoking in the cottage.

The cottage is just 1.5 miles from the small seaside village of Borth, there is a riverside path down to the sea if you are feeling energetic, we are about 6 miles north of Aberystwyth.

Dol y Bont is a fabulous base for exploring the stunning countryside and small towns and villages around us. You will not be disappointed with what's on offer in this very special area.

There are loads of amazing walks straight out of the front door, you can find a plethora  of footpaths to follow in some amazing circular walks.

There is a BBQ for your use in the garden and we have fishing rites in the Leri and are happy to find you a rod to borrow.

We have parking for one car on site and there is very limited additional parking in the village.

There is  WiFi throughout the property, the mobile phone signal can vary depending on your supplier.

Lounge

A lovely comfortable lounge with a multifuel burner. Directly overlooking the river there are 2 patio doors giving access to the river deck. Lots of beams and wonky walls and a fabulous floor. There is a TV in the lounge or birdfeeders hanging on the deck to watch for alternative viewing.

Dining Area

In the corner of the lounge is a circular table which comfortably seats 4.

Kitchen

Lovely compact cottage kitchen which is equipped for all of your needs. There is a fridge freezer, electric oven and hob and a compact dishwasher. There are views over the garden and you look directly down the river from the kitchen window. The back door opens directly into the garden.

River Deck

There is a small river deck overhanging the Leri with a café table and chairs accessed from either of the patio doors in the lounge. This is Martins favourite fishing spot. This is a super place to enjoy a cuppa or a G & T. Please note this not an area suitable for young children & is used at your own risk.

Bathroom

Where else could you lie in the bath and listen to the river running past just outside your window? I have loved washing my hair in this bathroom whilst looking straight down the river. There is underfloor heating to keep our tootsies nice and toasty.

We love this odd shaped bedroom with a window over the river - where you can be lulled to sleep by the Leri running past just below your window. Bedroom 2

Furnished very much in keeping with an old lady of a cottage. there are gorgeous views directly down the river from the window and you can hear the sounds of the river as it meanders past. There is a hidden small hanging closet in this bedroom and plenty of drawers
